Not to mention that those 2 born-ins shouldn't have even been born if their parents listened to the direction from the org not to have children...just saying

Overcoming the influence of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Christophoros insome things that have helped me in my journey... .
since a major part of what the watchtower society does, involves the twisting of the real meaning of the bible and specific verses... it makes sense to me, whether a person has some kind of belief in the bible or not, to go to the source of the twisting, get it's real meaning, unravel the the knots and chains, and walk free.. for me, a huge part of the unravelling process has been spending time in the gospels.. the pharisees.... i used to read the gospels, and listen to audio bibles, and every time the pharisees showed up, i would sign/groan/mockingly laugh:.

Isn't it interesting when you step away from the cult and indoctrination sessions everything becomes so much more clear and makes sense. One thing I noticed personally after I stopped going to meetings was how much fear was inculcated in me and how the burden was lifted and I felt more content. Thank you for this post

When leaving was due to "Sin" and not Apostasy
by Cat2016 init has been 18 years since i decided to leave and fade away, and at that time i was feeling a lot of pressure that i wasn't doing enough, didn't fit in with the folks in my congregation, and was unhappy in my young jw marriage.
needless to say i recklessly went and had an affair that left me pregnant.
i did not know what to do, i panicked and got major anxiety.

Crisis of conscience by former gb member Franz REALLY helped me realize I wasn't raised with "the truth". Do some searches on here and Internet about cognitive dissonance - it will really make sense to you how you feel and how to start deprogramming from what was inculcated in us. Start making all decisions based on what makes you alone happy, not based on what we are supposed to do, and have no guilt about it. This jw guilt is crippling and handicaps your emotional well being. Checking this site regularly and reading others journeys has proved invaluable to begin the path to healing! Welcomeš

The one oclock meeting
by Steel ini go to a hall (very rarely) with a single cong of about 60 people in a small city of maybe 10000. our board of elders is a bunch of childless weirdos or at least the ones that make an effort.. they recently changed the sunday meeting time from 10/12 to 1/ 3. a number of us are pissed off.
its makes to hard to drive to the city or go to a football game.. i just know the gestopo elders behind the change.
if your life isnt as miserable or pointless as theirs, they arent doing their job.

Maybe they will be selling your hall off soon and getting everyone ready for the 1:00 meeting you will have at a neighboring hall? Just a guess...

Disassociation revealed what type of man my father really is.
by Paul Mooney ini began my exit from the jehovahās witness organization about 5 years.
i was a 4th generation born-in, with all the baggage that comes with having the āspiritual heritageā attached to the group.
i was an elder/bethelite/pioneer/whatever other useless privilege there was, i had no family or friends outside of the organizationā¦ my entire life was that org.

At the heart of it, we want our parents to unconditionally love us. When we choose as adults with free will, NOT to live in this cult, we realize who of our loved ones truly love us unconditionally. I'm so glad your father made such an effort to tell you this, great news!

I'm always amused how easy it is for Jws to pick and choose which bible principles they will go by and which they ignore... In this case treat others as you wish to be treated and let your yes mean yes and no no were clearly ignored...

To beard or not to beard...
by Saltheart Foamfollower in...that is the question our circuit overseer asked the elders.
to elaborate, the agenda for the co meeting with the elders had an item about the "beard paragraph" (sept watchtower p21 para 17) which i assumed would be an instruction to not use any with beards on the platform.
instead he genuinely wanted to know if we would recommend a brother if he had a beard but everything else was ok. he kept pressing until he got 100% saying yes - a beard isn't a problem.

What if all JWs had put off having children?
by keyser soze incould the religion have survived?.
i know it was never forbidden, but i remember growing up, how we were encouraged to put it off until the new system, and instead focus on a career in the full time service.. can you imagine if every young jw had chosen to follow that counsel?
it's difficult to imagine the religion being sustainable without the next generation of born-ins..

Also thank you for the quotes blondie... My mother in law actually told me that the society- she still calls it that...never said that we shouldn't have kids... Now I have some proof to show her because I did not feel like searching for the proof I knew was there...

Yes, my husband and I were also one of those couples that stupidly listened to the advise not to have kids...10 years into being married I noticed all the planned children other couples in our circuit were having and it really confused me...now that we are awake I feel we are too old and confused as to what the hell we would even teach these kids that we are just content to live our lives happy and free of the cult...š
